NATURAL and ADABAS Security Interfaces.
1. On-line Natural "shell" around ADABAS
ADASCR utility.
- List all files in all databases for given password (same list can be
obtained by given library name or user-id without knowing password itself);
- List all passwords for given file and database.
- All listed information can be updated on-line including adding new
password (corresponding JCL for ADASCR utility will be generated and submitted
automatically).
2. On-line Natural transaction to update information
related to User-Id in several areas simultaneously.
- Updated areas include:
- Top Secret;
- TSO account;
- NATURAL SECURITY;
- PREDICT;
- TX Mail;
- ADABAS files supporting internal Navigation Security System.
- Developed transaction is safety enough because persons requesting update
have access to nothing. Request implementation process starts automatically
after approval from Information Security Department through BU Electronic
Authorization System.
3. Common subprograms enhancing Natural Security
API.
- Helps easily build applications safety updating Natural Security.
- All Natural Security definitions can be updated consistently "in
one shot" after Information Security Department approves request through
BU Electronic Authorization System.
- Typical request can require, for example:
- add (update) new Natural library or Natural user;
- TSO account;
- link user (users) to library (libraries);
- link file (files) to library (libraries);
- change library password accordingly to list of linked files.
- Same subroutines can be used to update Natural Security in batch mode
in case of changing internal rules or policies. BU recently updated STEPLIBs
definitions for almost each of 2,000 Natural libraries and planning to
update default library names for more than 1,000 production Natural batch-users.
Last thing will require copying more than 1,000 Natural libraries including
all their links and special links.
